Day 01:                               Wednesday, September 12, 2018 ~ Departure

Depart from Washington, Dulles International Airport to Ethiopia on Flight 501 at 11AM

Day 02:                               Thursday, September 13, 2018 ~ Addis Ababa

7:15AM Arrival at Addis Ababa

Meet & greet on arrival at the airport & transfer to your 3-4 star hotel. A day S/S tour of the main landmarks of the city, National Museum, Trinity Cathedral, Entoto panoramic views.

Day 03:                               Friday, September 14, 2018 ~ Axum

 Morning flight to Axum.  Transfer to your hotel. Check in & a day sightseeing tours of the main stele park, St.Mary Church ( final resting place of the Ark of the covenant), tombs of Kaleb & Gebremeskel, Queen Sheba Palace (Dongur).

Day 04:                               Saturday, September 15, 2018 ~ Lalibela

Morning flight to Lalibela.  Transfer to your hotel. Check in & a day sightseeing tours of the Northern & Southern Clusters of Rock Hewn churches concentrated in the town of Lalibela.

Day 05:                               Sunday, September 16, 2018 ~ Gondar

Morning flight to Gondar and a day sightseeing tours of the Castle like palaces  of Gondar built in the 17th -18 the Centuries by the Gonderine monarchs, Debre Birhan Silassie Church known for its

beautiful mural paintings and winged angels on its ceilings.

Day 06:                               Monday, September 17, 2018 ~ Bahir Dar (190kms)

Morning drive to Bahir Dar covering 190kms on sealed road exploring the beautiful countryside local people and afternoon boat trip on Lake Tana to explore the Lake and one of its known monastery of Aziwa Mariam.

Day 07:                               Tuesday, September 18, 2018 ~ Flight back to Addis Ababa

Fly back to (Addis Ababa) possibly shopping around Piassa and then cultural dinner and folkloric dance. O/n Addis Ababa, Getfam or similar hotel

Day 08:                               Wednesday, September 19, 2018  ~ Departure & Arrival in Accra

Meet and transfer to your hotel. Brief Orientation Hotels check in is at 3.00pm

Overnight: Accra City Hotel/ Sunlodge Hotel in Accra 

DAY 09:                              Thursday September 20, 2018 ~ Accra City Tour – Elmina

Breakfast and hotel check out

Depart for a half day city tour of Accra visiting Old Accra which was divided into Dutch and British Accra as a result of the two European nations operating from different locations within the same township of a little under 1 sq. kilometer. You will drive past Fort Crêvecoeur (Ussher Fort) built by the Dutch in 1652, James Fort built by the British in 1662, Old Accra Square and the Post Office, the old light House built by the British to guide commercial ships into the Accra Harbour and

the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Park, the last and final resting place of our first president. Drive past the Independence Arch and Black Star Square – Accra’s ceremonial grounds.

Lunch (on own account)

After lunch depart to Elmina. Drive past several fishing villages and coconut lined beaches. 

Arrive in Elmina and check-into your hotel

Day 10: Friday, September 21, 2018 ~ Naming Ceremony, Elmina Castle And Township Tour


Depart to visit a typical Fante village. Arrive and pay courtesy call on the chief and elders. You will later converge to go through traditional naming session where you will be given your traditional Fante day names.

Continue to visit the Elmina Castle, the first Portuguese-built structure in sub-Saharan Africa (1482), for another comprehensive guided tour. Evidence of the infamous Slave Trade can be seen in the several colonial-era forts and castles which are now designated Unesco World Heritage Sites. Visitors cannot fail to feel the horror of this dark chapter in Ghana’s history.

Go for a guided walking tour of the over 700 year-old Elmina town. Learn about the economic, political, historical and cultural including the colorful boats and fishing harbor aspects of Elmina, the Posuban Shrines, Fort St Jago and the Old Dutch Cemetery. The history of this place explains the Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences.

Day 11:                               Saturday September 22, 2018 ~ Assin Manso – Kumasi Craft Villages


Assin Manso, burial site of the remains of two former slaves exhumed from New York’s Wall Street and re-interred on Emancipation Day 1998 and the “Slave River” which was the last rest stop for slaves on their “one-way” trek to the Coast for shipment into slavery. Note the change in vegetation from coastal shrub to forest as we drive northwards across the River Prah.

Continue to Kumasi. Arrive and visit a few Ashanti craft villages. Ashanti craft villages to observe craftsmen at work and to purchase souvenir gift items from the wide assortment of handicrafts on sale; Ntonso where the primary activity is the Adinkra mourning cloth and tie-and-dye and finally to Bonwire, home of the famous Kente cloth

Day 12:                               Sunday September 23, 2018 ~ Akwasidae and Transfer To Accra

Breakfast and hotel check out

Go on a city tour of Kumasi visiting the National Cultural Centre, Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, the Okomfo Anokye Sword and the Kumasi Central Market – the largest open-air market in West Africa

Continue to the Manhyia Palace for a tour of the Palace Museum and witness the Akewasidae Festival celebrated on only Sunday in Kumasi and other Akan speaking communities who owe allegiance to the King of Ashanti. This is celebrated every 42 days.  This is a colorful, scenic and unique event where people gather from afar, many in traditional costumes, come to greet their king on the throne at the royal court, and people bring gifts to pay homage to the King. 

Depart to Accra. Drive past several scenic charming and farming communities and villages
