Things to Remember

Our date of departure is Thursday February 6, 2014 at 11:45 PM – Turkish Airlines in Terminal 1 at J. F. Kennedy Airport, New York

I. Do not forget throughout the tour to pack your Passport and Yellow Fever Booklet in your carryon luggage

II. Use the Daily Malaria Pills Only (Malarone)

III. Have your doctor give you a prescription for Ciprofloxacin in case of stomach illness

IV. Only use bottled water. Do not drink or brush your teeth with the tap water

V. Do not pack your medicines in your suitcase. Keep them in your carry on.

VI. Staple your yellow vaccination booklet to the last page of your passport.

VII. We will be moving a lot so Pack Light & lock checked luggage with TSA locks if possible: Try to have checked in only one suitcase, and pack a collapsible one for any shopping you will do. Live out of your carryon luggage on the short stays. Use your carry on to hold your change of clothing for two or three days. Remember no major amount of liquids in the carryon luggage (3 ounce max per item and all of it should fit in a quart size plastic bag). Replenish the carry on from your large check-in luggage every few days, the exception being Zanzibar where we will be for 4 nights/5days. Hopefully this will avoid you having to do a lot of packing, looking for items and repacking everyday.

VIII. I will be watching the weather in Istanbul to see if we can leave our coats at the airport. You may be able to wear layers of lighter clothing and still be comfortable if the temperature is not too cold there. That being said, you should have a jacket or sweater for all flights.

IX. Please email me today the name(s), address, contact numbers and email of folks to get in touch with in case of an emergency

X. Print a copy of your air and land itinerary and make 2 copies of your passport (one for me and one for you).
